Communications - Description

M.D. Communications is an accredited Center of Excellence and a dynamic dispatch center serving the Emergency Medical Dispatch needs of much of West Central and Northern Saskatchewan, as well as Emergency Fire Dispatch for the rural Saskatoon area.

Prerequisites for employment as a call-taker / dispatcher are Emergency Medical Dispatch certification, and Emergency Fire Dispatch certification. These courses are offered at various locations through the National Academy of Emergency Dispatch. (www.prioritydispatch.net)

Other Qualifications

  • Strong Decision making and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Typing speed of 35wpm minimum
  • Current CPR "C"
  • EMT training or experience and asset, but not required
  • Grade 12 or GED

Candidates successful in the testing process will be invited to a panel interview. Upon hiring, candidates will be required to submit a Police Records Check and a Hearing Test report.

Salary scale is as per Union contract, International Association of Fire Fighters, Local 3270.
