Where did this idea come from?
In the spring of 2007 MD Ambulance sent 2 representatives to a UK trade mission as part of a Canadian delegation. One of the programs running successfully in the UK was “Mobile Community Medicine” which involved Nurse Practitioners and Paramedics working side by side delivering patient care in communities. MD Ambulance Paramedics brought this idea back to Saskatchewan and shared it with the Saskatoon Health Region. After several months of research and fact finding the program was ready to be shared with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health which brings us to today.
“Community Health, Primary Health Care, and Emergency Medical Services have come together today to create a first of it’s kind in Canada, a world class project based on best practices and strong partnerships. This program (Health Bus) will set the trend for other major cities in Canada in delivering top quality patient care in their communities. We are excited to officially launch the Health Bus to the citizens of Saskatoon” states Dave Dutchak, President and CEO of MD Ambulance Care.
